Channel 7 Telethon Trust Funding of Youth Mental Health Projects

Our lab members are involved in 2 projects that have been collectively awarded over $500,000 in funding from the Channel 7 Telethon Trust. One of these projects, led by Prof. Bronwyn Meyers-Franchi (with Prof. Wai Chen and Dr David Preece also on the team), is titled ‘Help While our Children Wait’ – the project seeks to introduce new transdiagnostic treatment approaches to work around the overwhelming workforce shortages and increased demand facing our mental health sector, where children with less urgent mental health concerns are not prioritised. The other project, led by Dr Ken Robinson (with Prof. Wai Chen, Dr David Preece, and A/Prof. Rodrigo Becerra also on the team), is titled ‘Emotion and Disordered Eating in WA Adolescents’ – it seeks to develop and trial a new emotion regulation-based treatment program to help adolescents with subthreshold eating disorder symptoms.
